Freedom from marriage was once enjoyed by privileged liberal women of the society and they considered this as an important accomplishment of emancipation. But research shows that now well educated women of today are against divorce. Divorce is becoming more common among the poor and uneducated women and everybody is asking: how to divorce . Divorce rates have been increasing in the past decade and it is the less educated who are responsible for this as they have more liberal attitude towards divorce. Educated women believe that divorce should be the last option to repair a relationship. Educated women of modern days with university degrees are of the view that divorce should be made difficult whereas educated women in the past were in favor of divorce. In UK the divorce rates have gone up to four times since 1970, with almost 50% marriages breaking up. The attitudes of women are also changing with time. Nowadays there is a trend of women staying at home, looking after the children and attending to household work. Research shows that well educated women are more traditional and moral in their attitudes. Today’s woman is aware of the damaging consequences of divorce and has become very conservative in attitude towards marriage. Working women are quitting their jobs so that they have a stable and healthy family life . Divorce used to be acceptable in olden days of one of the couple could not get along with the relationship. Educated people today try hard fixing and mending the relationship instead of easily breaking it forever. A proper decision has to be made before going ahead for divorce. The couple should be willing to take this drastic measure. There are some procedures before filing for divorce . Before filing for divorce the court has to be informed that the couple is willing to go ahead and proceed with the termination of marriage. This means that they cannot mend the relationship anymore and wants to put an end to it. They will have to file a summons and petition the court and wait for the actual hearing from the court. Before filing for divorce they will have to choose the proper state and province to file the papers. Before proceeding ahead they will have to choose the right place. They must ensure that the divorce is occurring in the county where either of them live. They must be willing to be prepared for the long drag in the divorce. Each and every issue will be brought up. This may be a cumbersome procedure and the proceedings may go on till a proper conclusion is arrived. This can happen fast also but everything will depend on the issues concerned with either party. There will be many alternatives in a divorce proceeding. The party concerned has to be open-minded and going in to the process with good intention at the same time. They have to make a number of visits to court to find out what is best for their family. If they are not able to decide among themselves then they can take help consult a judge and take his/her help. The judge will consider all the issues and will arrive at the best possible solution so that both the parties are benefited. The party concerned can hire a public prosecutor to take care of proceedings in the divorce so that he/she is represented well and either of them is not at risk in the end. The messages can be told loudly in the court so that the concerned party’s story is well heard. There are many factors to be considered in a divorce hearing and the concerned party has to do his/her best to put them in their favor. Nobody would want to make the divorce an unpleasant affair. It should not be made hard just for the other person’s nastiness. This is not very good for the concerned party because it add more stress in the process and hurt one’s feelings. The procedure should go smoothly and fairly as possible. This will be the best for everybody involved in the family. There are some good ways on how to deal with divorce. Firstly the concerned party has to control his/her temper. It is better to stay friends during divorce by not creating unpleasant situation in front of children. They should participate in family discussions so that the kids don’t feel left out. If the concerned party has an affair then it should be kept out of the picture. Divorce is defensive and the worst part will come out during the process. During this time the party concerned should talk to his/her spouse in a calm manner and speak out everything whatever he/she will miss so that the other party knows that this is not so good for them also. This way money can be saved. |
