Causes Of Diabetes
Written by James Black
Revising diabetes which is one of the most common types of diseases actually means understanding and refraining from what has actually caused this disease. It is virtually quite important to know what the underlying causes of diabetes are and how it can be cured or else the cure would never be a cure for the disorder. It is found that almost everyone is looking for a magical cure from science without actually experiencing their own long term playing role in the cause of diabetes. However you should actually desist from repeating the causes of diabetes and also treating it otherwise the treatment would be of no use. This means that proper diagnosis of yoru causes and symptoms is important to clearly understand the type of diabetes and the appropriate treatment for the disease.  Understanding signs of diabetes is important. The exact etiology for some common cases of diabetes is however uncertain but there are still some contributing factors to the causes.

Causes of Type 1 diabetes

The type 1 diabetes is basically autoimmune disease which is affected to nearly 0.3 percent of people on average. This type of diabetes is also the result of destruction in the beta cells which is caused due to aggressive nature of the cells in the body. However some researchers claim that some of the risk factors and etiology that might trigger the type 1 diabetes could be poor diet or malnutrition, genetic and environmental conditions. The other most cause in most of the cases is that diabetes occurs because there is irregular secretion of hormones in the blood that act as antagonists to the insulin. Some examples of this include adrenaline hormone, adrenocortical hormone and thyroid hormone.

Causes of Type 2 diabetes

The type 2 diabetes is also called as NIDDM or non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and sometimes as adult onset diabetes. This type of diabetes mainly occurs when the body starts producing enough insulin but it cannot effectively utilize it. Therefore this type 2 diabetes is mainly found to develop among the middle aged people. According to a general observation there were nearly 90 to 95 percent of people suffering from this type of diabetes and nearly 80 percent from the same were overweight. Therefore it is found more in people who are obese and who are older or have a family diabetes history and also have gestational diabetes. Moreover there are also several risk factors observed to be responsible for this type of diabetes. When there is more risk factors and etiology carried by the person there would be higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Common causes for diabetes

  • Inherited traits or hereditary – It is believed that due to some genes that pass from one generation to the next could develop diabetes in a person. However it also depends on the blood relationship closeness and if the mother is diabetic then there are around 3 percent chances of developing diabetes.
  • Age – The growth in age is also a factor that gives more possibility to diabetes than in younger age. However this disease might occur at any age but nearly 80 percent of the diabetic patients are above 50 years old.
  • Fat distribution and obesity – Being overweight also means that you have increased insulin resistance which means that the body fat is more than 30 percent. Therefore fat distribution and obesity can also be another factor or cause for diabetes.
  • Poor diet – Low protein, improper nutrition and fiber intake along with high intake of refined food products could also be the expected reasons to develop diabetes.
  • Sedentary lifestyle – There are some people with sedentary lifestyle which actually makes them more prone to diabetes when compared to ones who exercise at least three times a week who are at low risk in falling prey to this disease.
  • Drug induced – Olanzapine, clozapine, risperidone, ziprasidone and quentiapine are some of the infections that are known to induce such lethal diseses.
  • Stress – Either emotional disturbance or physical injury is frequently blamed to be the initial cause for diabetes. Therefore any disturbance in the ACTH or corticosteroid therapy might lead to some clinical signs of diabetes.
  • Sex – Diabetes is more commonly seen in elder people or specially males but it could be even stronger among those women with multiple pregnancy and those suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS.
  • Infection – There are some strephyococci whci are supposed to be responsible factors for the injection in pancreas which are also the reason for diabetes in people.
  • Lipoproteins and Serum lipids – Some high cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels in the blood are related to producing high blood sugars and in some cases it also has been studied to be involved in lower HDL levels in the circulating blood.
  • Hypertension – It’s reported in a number of studies and researches that there is a strong relation between diabetes and high systolic pressure. Therefore we can say hypertension might be one of the signs of diabetes.
